    Had tyre cracking on my first Hinckley, a '94 Sprint 900 fitted with BT54's, not as bad, more like as in Mustangs pic. Ran Bridgestones for 20 years & never had it again.
    Also: '16 Tiger 800, '95 Yamaha Serow, '58 Ariel FH.

    Bit of an update, binned the BT31's today for some lovely Michelins PR4'S,  Bridgestones only lasted 7k before they were totally shot..  :125:
    Im sort of glad they are gone as i didn't like cornering, the rear always felt like it was sliding and i cant believe how quickly they squared off.
    I have never had a rear tyre go like this before,  never buying Bridgestones again  :151:

    Yam RD125 DX, Kwak GPZ305, Honda CB400T, 1983 Kwak GT550, Suzuki GSF650 Bandit, Tiger 1050SE, 2019 Tiger Sport .... got there in the end.

    By 'eck Mike that's bad, good luck with the PR4's, I had 2 sets of those, first set did 12k, 2nd set did 8k, both sets down to the pips together, no logic as to why one set wore quicker. Best bit was no punctures, lost most of my Bridgestones over 20 years to punctures.

    My T800 came with Metz Tourance next tyres, awful on white lines & overbanding. Swapped for Roadtec 01's, they were so good I fitted the Roadtec 01 SE to my TS1050, very pleased with them. Bad bit, got a gurt big screw in the rear of T800 at 5,500 miles, went for a new set, don't like puncture repairs on bikes. Price for the T800 went from £252 in Oct '19 to £323 in Jun '22. For the TS size £282 in Sep '21. They sure are shooting up.
    Also: '16 Tiger 800, '95 Yamaha Serow, '58 Ariel FH.

    yes, I got about 12k out of the previous set of PR4's on my Tiger 1050, loved the feel of them in the wet.
    I paid £240 for the pair from Demon Tweaks & cost £45 to have them fitted locally, the Bridgestones were about £290 fitted in December IIRC,
    I have heard several good reviews of the Roadtec 01 SE's from other bikers on various other machines so may try them next time, they are currently 20 quid more for a pair than the Mich PR4's.

    I don’t understand why people keep changing brands and model of tyres.  If you find a pair you like, why change?  You’ll be stuck with them for many months (if not years) - it’s not like trying a new meal from the Chinese takeaway, where if you don’t like it so much, it’s gone and forgotten in an hour or so.  They all seem to cost roughly the same, especially when the cost is spread over the thousands of miles they will do.

    I’ve stuck with Michelin PR4 or Road 5 for years, they’ve never let me down and I’ve never had cause to regret it or to think ‘tyre X’ might be better - as it might very well be a whole lot worse.

    Mike, I did this to the Michelin on the Tiger 100 miles from home in Jan. Only thing I could get locally to get me home was a Conti Road Attack (RA3).
    Really impressed with it so far. As good in the wet/cold as the R5 and much sportier in the dry. Probably won't bother switching back. Also heard good things about the Roadtec, big orange thing is not far off needing new rubber so may give them a try then.
    Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

    I have the attitude to move on with the times, as the manufacturers have done, or I'd still be fitting BT54's as fitted to my first Hinkley Triumph early 90's. Tyre technology moves on fast as they all try & beat the competition.

    I was quite disappointed in the mileage of my 2nd set of Mich PR4's, Maybe they changed the compound, I changed brand to test the hype & pleased I did, imo I changed to far better tyres. Running 2 bikes back to back with the different brands, I know which feel the better & safer, for me.

    I tend to stick with what works for me. When I am forced into a change its just a case of deciding if its worth keeping or going back next time. RA was because I could not find an R5, originally switched to the PR3 because my previous favourites (Avon Storm) were out of stock when I needed new tyres.

    I admit being a Bridgestone fan.  BT54 on my Honda ST1100, BT023 on my 2009 Tiger SE,  T30 on 2014 Trophy, T31 on my Tiger 1200 XRx up to T32 on my current 2020 Tiger Sport.
    The front tyres have always worn faster and no cracks in the last T32F after 5000+km

    With my previous 2 tyre changes i have had no choice but to go with what the garage had which was Bridgestones as they had no other tyres that ffitted the bike, so this time i ordered  Michelins as soon as i could afford them.
    I deliberated over whether to try the metzelers but they were more money so i decided to stick to what have given me good value for money in the past on my previous Tiger 1050.. :031:
