I've been using Advance for spark plugs for the Triumphs for years.  My store even gives 10% off for AAA membership, so if you don't have a coupon, give it a shot.

My manual says to use a NGK 9 heat range.  Tiggar has 8's installed and I have no preignition I could expect from to high a heat range such as an 8 where a 9 is called for.

Is anybody out there using the 9 heat range?  Why the contradiction in heat ranges?

The bike will work fine on the 9 heat range, but they can be prone to fouling depending on riding style.  I, along with many others, have run the 8's to battle the problem.  My 8's generally  have lasted longer than my 9's.  You can find more information on this with the Speed Triple, if you're bored.

I used both. 8's come out a little lighter, but either is fine. Depends on what tune you have more then anything.

I ordered 3 iridium 8's for local pickup.  I got 3 plugs and a nifty magnetic swivel socket wrench all for $21.  Good deal!

When I picked them up, the cashier told me that iridiums come pregapped so I don't have to mess with setting the gap.  Is that true?  He looked it up in the PC and their system said I should get the 9's that come gapped at 0.28" which converts to 0.711mm.  He then argued that I was buying the wrong plugs.   :008:

I looked at all their feeler gauges and none of them even went up to 0.7mm.  Guess I will buy online because I don't trust 100% the factory pregapped setting.  These are single electrode plugs.  Was I suppose to get double electrode?

Nevermind, found my answer at http://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9676

Gap comes at 0.8mm on the CR8EIX plugs which is outside of the recommended 0.60-0.75mm range given in the user manual.

I've got the Iridium 9's in mine. I pulled 8's out when I changed them and they were in good shape. Time will tell how the 9's look.
