    Radiator cooling fan U/s

My cooling fan will not operate when temp rises to prescribed level- temp gauge rises sharply at traffic lights and fan does not kick in. The fan has resistance when turning by hand through the rad guard indicating bearings are u/s.
Dealer quote for replacement fan Aud $680 + $200 for fitting.
Ques. Is there an after market alternative and if so selling site?

The $200 fitting cost seems reasonable and if no alternative part then I will give them the go ahead.

If a cheaper alternative then I will fit it myself. Can it be replaced by removing the securing bolts and tilting the radiator forward?
    Looking forward to your advice.
    cheers

Up date The fan now turns freely but there appears to be some forward/backward play. Can the fan be serviced ie the bearings be replaced?
