Whats the socket on the left hand side of my Tiger Sport?

I can't find any mention of this in the manual, is it a 12V socket, is it switched or what can I use this for?

12 v unswitched. Use for what you will 10A fuse iirc. You can also plug your battery tender in there if you use one.

Could I connect a 12V power supply to it for charging phone and that? or would it be cleaner to run that from the ignition?
What do people normally use it for?

I have a plug in it permanently which supplies a Garmin satnav bracket mounted on the bars - I have a right-angle plug in it (so it's barely visible) and the cables are zip-tied to the frame up to the headstock and then follow the clutch cable to where it's needed.  I don't use it much but when I do, it works fine.  I don't see why it wouldn't work for a phone.

You can use it for whatever you need to power - heated clothing would be another obvious use, given where it is.

What type of plug does it take? Any link for the right angle one?

Seeing as its not switched, do you just remember to turn off the Satnav. I presume if you don't it will just run the battery down?

The socket is a 12mm DIN or Hella type.  Triumph use them, as do BMW on their bikes.  It's a reasonably standard size socket for motorcycle use, but obviously not the same as a cigarette lighter socket in a car.  Smaller and a noticeably more tighter fit in the socket, it doesn't pull out nearly so easily.

I bought mine almost 10 years ago, but I think the one I have is the same as this:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/BAAS-DIN-connector-Capacity-Suitable/dp/B007P1J0N0

I have the Garmin mount fitted permanently, but the satnav itself is rarely clipped in to it - maybe a couple of times a year.  I only really use it if I'm going somewhere I don't already know.

Many people, including my local Triumph dealership, take a feed from the left sidelight for satnav which is switched.
