Yeah, they're not really my style.  But the bike had everything else I wanted, so I figured the ludicrously vast panniers can go in the loft or sell them to someone who wants a space hopper strapped on each side of their bike.  I might leave them on for a week and pretend I'm in CHIPS...

Update - My 1050 Sport finally arrived today.  Immediately stripped the panniers and mounts off, and then out for some familiarisation rides.  First observations -

It's heavy, but not excessively so (except getting it onto centre stand!)
The torque is gorgeous, I've missed the triple whistle.
It's an enjoyable bike on flowing country roads.
Gear change is awfully clunky, the lever seems far too low.

I do have one specific concern about an odd noise, which I'll post in the maintenance section.  But the bike is under Triumph Approved Used warranty, so I'm not too worried.

Yeah gear change sounds clunky but never caused any issues although I always kill the sound track when posting videos in case people think I can't ride  .
I could not get on with the stock lever and used one from this page https://www.palmerproducts.co.uk/products/select-bike-k-z/triumph-tiger-1050-sport-2013my/. I think there is also an SW Motech option but that was one of my top 2 mods - the other was taking the seat to an upholsterer

Thanks Sean - that Palmer kit seems ideal, I'll pop it on the upgrade list.
