    noice on clutch release

Hello, I amn experiencing a clunking noise as I release the clutch lever an throttle to 2-3k rpm's. The noise only persists at low rpm's in 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. One time I thought the front wheel was being compromised by the brakes somehow. The dealer wants to charge $170 to diagnose, however this forum has been very helpful in finding solutions I would have spent $$$$ and time trying to diagnose.... Any thoughts on this issue? THanks for the assistance.

Hello again! The noise happens when I release the clutch in gear and coast for 10 feet, I get a pop and / or a double pop coming from the under belly of the bike, 2010 tiger 1050 abs. If anyone has an opinion, I would appreciate it! Thanks in advance

Check your cush rubbers in the back wheel, front sprocket wear, and chain adjustment. Jumping the chain? You talk about front wheel and back wheel issues together, which makes no sense. Narrow down the precise issues and we can help. Separate out braking, clutch and coasting issues as they are all different. Without riding, rock the bike back and forth in gear and tell us what you see and hear. Try a better term than 'pop'. Sharp metallic sound? Low thump sound? Deep clunk that sounds like fluid moving, as in clutch? Get the drift? If it's a pop (sharp bubble-burst sound) then look for something resisting and breaking free. Axles tight, swing arm bushes all good, front yokes moving properly, brake calipers all seated and working well? Start at the front and eliminate each system.

Something a few people here have reported is a loose nut on the front sprocket.  Easy to check, at least - just unbolt the cover and get a socket on it. I think it's 36mm but you might need to double-check that before buying one

Thanks for the advice. I will check the sproket nut. Plus I read that a good chain cleaning and checking each link. I update this post once I do both.
    Thanks again.....

fwiw I have over 200k miles on my 2008. Every time That I took the front sprocket off, the nut was loose, and that's ok. Just bend the tab over so that it keeps the nut from backing off as much as possible. My huskys sprockets are just held on with a circlip and they work fine. If your chain/sprockets are getting worn i will do what you are experiencing. I use DuPont chain saver for lube, every 700 miles or so and have gotten 40k miles plus out of multiple chain sets. good stuff.

Thanks Tiger community for the advice. I took the sprocket cover off and checked the nut. It was tight, however lots of crud and asphalt / road crap stuck inside. I cleaned it out, plus degreased, lubed and waxed the chain. Fired her up and the noise has stopped once the bike was rolling in gear. No clunk, no clicks or pops. Not sure exactly what to attribute the fix to, but for now all is well. Thanks for the responses.

I clean that crud out at every oil & filter change at 3k miles, clean, check & lube chain every couple of rides, the Scottoiler does the lube job on the road in-between. Good job getting it sorted.  :062:
