    first ride - new owner

so after a few years of riding older cheaper fixer upper bikes - an old cbf500 and an old 98 hornet,  i had my first ride on the 2014 tiger sport this weekend,
wow , what a fantastic bike! soaked up all the crappy road surface and ruined tarmac of my local roads,  with no fuss gets you from a to b ( at some considerable speed if u want it too as well )

i did find it alot heavier than im used too whilst stationary and i dont even have the luggage attached currently , may have felt heavier than the last harley softtail i rode but higher center of gravity so not sure, and it did have me prepare myself mentally before getting it up on the center stand for the first time, ;)   i may look into a side stand extension as the lean combined with the weight when im putting the bike away has me a little nervous still

factory fitted hot grips was a nice touch, the small additional screen the previous owner has added meant that even when i very briefly popped into tripple figures ( just to see ) i had very little wind buffeting,  though no hand guards to ive just ordered a pair of ktm ones after reading the posts here,

bike already has a tail tidy fitted which is nice and i've noticed amongst the paperwork previous owner has changed from 18t to 19t front cog ? any one else done this and why?    it has the decent diablo tyres fitted too which gave good confidence even two up,   there isn't a huge grab of brake force on this bike but im guessing thats the rolling weight?
i was also suprised not to be able to hear the arrow end can once upto road speed i was more aware of the engine sound and slight whislting ? noise of this engine in terms of knowing the rev range position etc, anyone moddified they end can and what was the results?
any other suggested mods tweaks to try?
anyway officially a 1050 sport owner and saying HI   ( im in south wales uk )

Welcome to the forum. The guys on the forum are a great bunch to ask questions to and get years of insight on many different aspects of ownership and modification.    ( Should we let him about not starting oil threads without reading the forum archives first ?   :008: )

The whistling noise is normal :) You may find that at lower speeds the weight is a bit more top heavy, compared to your previous bikes, but it disappears on the move. I use mine for fun, commenting and hopefully touring (my 2010 Tiger 1050 was great at it)
