Possible missing piece of Rostra cruise control?

    Hi everyone,
Happy to be a part of this community!
I just picked up my new to me 2010 Tiger 1050 and noticed that it looks like something has been removed from the tail storage section. There is a black wire with a 25 amp fuse and a ring connector and then 2 switches and a data port. It looks like it might be part of the aftermarket cruise control but I’m not sure? It came with the cruise control interface and also a Rostra cruise control module. I would love any input on what might be missing. Thanks!

I doubt the fuse & wiring were for CC, which draws barely 1 amp.  Rostra and Audiovox use the same control pad and a fairly long wiring harness (suitable to car use).  They both have a reasonably large control module with a cable going to the throttle quadrant.  Rostra is electronic, Audiovox is vacuum operated.  Is any of that on ya bike?

Yep there is a long bundle of cables running throughout the bike and there is also a Centrodyne box, so it’s a Rostra, right?
But is it safe to say, the wire in the tail section is from something else? Any idea what it might be for?

I don't know what a Centrodyne box is - got a pic?  Is there a cable from it connected to the throttle quadrant?

But is it safe to say, the wire in the tail section is from something else?  Yes.

Any idea what it might be for?  No, but following the wire may give you a clue.

The ‘data port’ you refer to - assuming it’s the port showing at the bottom of the first pic, half covered in a rubbery shroud - isn’t that just the ODB-II connector for engine diagnostics etc?

So it looks like it’s not part of the cruise control since I got it working and you’re right, that is just the ODB connector. Thanks for the help on this. Im still figuring out the new Tiger!

So, you have the cruise control working? I'm ignorant in this regard but would really like that feature. How does it crank the throttle? A servo? That has to be a pretty big current-draw item.

To be honest I’m not totally sure. I believe it’s a servo attached to the throttle linkage. I know there is a thread on here by Dave73 talking about his Rostra cruise control install that might help answer your questions.

I know I'm a fossil, but I can't even find my own posts when searching here. I'll try the big web...

I see a box with a cable and an adapter so I'm making the leap that it piggybacks on the mechanical linkage at the intake. Makes sense. Like an old Speed-O-Cruise. Nothing I want to fool with right now. But, I did love me my K1200GT with this function. Like the heated seat and grips, I was scornful until I had it.  :169:
