Switching from miles to kilometers - 2009 ABS 1050
on: 18 January, 2022, 12:37:05 AM
So, I know I should be reading all the documentation, but I'll test the team on this one in the interests of a new topic and a speedy answer. What does it take (and how) to switch from Imperial to metric measures? If I load my 1050 on a ship and deposit it in South Africa, can I change the log to be metric? Or is it a new odo pod? I'm thinking of shipping a couple of units as 'spares' and then registering them over there. Can the US version be metricated?

Have not done it since 2008, my Tiger came set to miles/IMP gallons so had to switch to miles/US gallons. Attached a link to a thread from 2007 on the subject. It is for the three button cluster, not sure about the two button cluster procedure.

Have had to do this more than once. Yes the speed and miles both convert to metric as one setting via the menus. The only tip I would give is to change it before transporting. My first Tiger came from LA to New Zealand and I had to jump through hoops to get the registration authorities to change the miles to Km for the official documents after the bike had passed compliance.

Thanks folks. Now that I know it's possible, I'll also read the book. Mine is a 3-button. Great tip about changing ahead of time to avoid the bureaucracy snafu.
