Sprint ST 1050 ULez compliant?
on: 22 September, 2021, 07:16:12 PM
Hi,
my friend wants to buy early Sprint ST 1050. 2006-2007.
He lives in London and asked me if I know if these bikes are ULEZ compliant.
Later models are compliant so I imagine earlier ones are too - I believe it's same engine.
Looked online, but couldn't find 100% info.
Anyone who lives in London and have ST 1050 or know somebody who knows - please let me know.
Thank you!

I know nowt about ULEZ, but I believe those early ST1050's had plastic tanks, not sure if it was only '05 - '06 to be considered with the ethanol issues.
Also: '16 Tiger 800, '95 Yamaha Serow, '58 Ariel FH.

Have to pay 12.50 per day for an 07 ST1050

Found an 07 on ebay, looked up its reg on https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/

Minimum emission standards
All vehicles need to meet Euro 3 emissions standards for NOx.
The ULEZ is enforced based on the declared emissions of the vehicle rather than the age - but generally speaking Euro 3 engines as those registered with the DVLA after July 2007.
Check your vehicle to see if it meets the standards. If the checker says your vehicle is subject to ULEZ but you think it does meet the standards, follow the steps on the results page to send us proof.

Thanks guys.

I understand if emissions are on V5 -and it's lower than the norm - you can send it to Transport for London for exemption. Anyone have older ST1050 and can check V5?

Other way is to ask Triumph for emmisions if it's not on V5. (Anyone contacted Triumph regarding emmisions on any older bike in London? How much Triumph charges for it?)
I did this with '05 Fireblade, Honda sent me a certificate (It was free) and I've got an exception from ULEZ.
Other way it would be to have the bike tested in an approved test centre.

@Sidewinder
If you check with number plate on a ULEZ checker - it only goes by the reg year and anything older than '08 it rejects and says it's no good.
