Had key stolen, need to replace ignition switch.

Hello all, first post. Referencing a 2007 Tiger 1050 non ABS.
Unfortunately I've had my keys taken or lost and I'm worried about someone who may have found them and would like to ensure that the key is useless. I have spares, but want to change the ignition switch to prevent theft.
Looking online, the replacement switches are pretty pricey. I've been tossing around the idea of getting some keyless ignition system and forgoing the keys all together, but was also wondering if wiring in a universal keyed ignition is possible. If anyone has any input or say I would love to hear it.

    Thanks,
    Nick

How big is the threat? Do you really suspect someone of having the old key AND wanting to steal your bike? Why not buy a disc lock and use it for 6 months or so until the likelihood of the threat has diminished. Then just go back to a normal life! You may find or retrieve the key by then anyway. Replacing the ignition might still not prevent it being stolen. It all depends on your risk aversion but I'd probably not replace the ignition.

:405:  Sorry this was your first post, bummer it was with a challenge.
Insurance is a wonderful thing, ignition, gas cap and seat will need to be done unless you like 2 keys for one bike.   Find a locksmith that can cut a key using impressions, 20 minutes your done.
By the time they showed up, took the original and tweaked the replacement key. Now I have spares. LOL

Post up a nice New to the forum post with a picture.  Be sure to check the sticky's top of each section and the NEW TO YOU TIGER THREAD.
