Hello from Pennsylvania, USA
on: 06 July, 2021, 01:05:21 PM
Just picked up a 2012 Tiger 1050 SE. Ohlins rear, racetech front suspension, zard exhaust, headlight upgrade and aux lights. It has some kind of TPMS monitoring also. I am going to need tires soon, I was thinking about Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2's. Anybody have experience with these?

BTW, this is the first Triumph Triple I have owned and after only 100 miles I am in love with that engine!

Sounds properly sorted  :028:
Had Scorpion trails (not 2's) on my KTM 1290S well impressed with them then went Michelin trail 5 and wished I had stuck with the Pirelli's
different bike i know

1 of the previous owners must have been a forum member with the Sport headlight upgrade.  :084:
Yam RD125 DX, Kwak GPZ305, Honda CB400T, 1983 Kwak GT550, Suzuki GSF650 Bandit, Tiger 1050SE, 2019 Tiger Sport .... got there in the end.

Welcome! Sounds like you found a well-sorted example of a great bike! After looking at your photos your's is almost an exact twin of mine, right down to the SWM protection and Madstad screen.

I wore out a set of the Scorpion Trail II's on my 2012 SE. My experience on them was high mileage (just shy of 8K miles - I probably ran the rear tire a bit longer than I should have). They were great on pavement and good on gravel for the first 1/2 of life. After that they pretty much sucked on gravel which was a disappointment because that's the whole point of an 80/20 tire, right? I replaced them with Avon Trailriders - I'm on my second set and like them a lot. I don't do a lot of unpaved gravel roads, but when I do I like the performance of the Trailriders.

How does the tread life of the Trailriders compare to the Scorpion Trail 2's?

I got 7K miles out of the first rear Trailrider. The front tire was still in good shape so I just changed the rear.
