I began life with running projectors as dual lights using H4 (dual filament) bulbs. It was better but not great. I cannot see how Twinlight can fix this issue. I think your model also got fat bars and the associated riser, and maybe better levers?

I noticed from the photos that the handlebar was black, which I had always associated with the fat bar, and thought it would have been aftermarket. Same with the levers, they look different than my 2008, more contour billet looking, which similarly I figured would be aftermarket. But that was OEM on 2012 SEs? I did some searching online for comparison websites, but side by side for the detail they had, there were no differences.

I recall comments that the SE got the nice bar and levers. And panniers as standard. Others can correct me.

Had a great phone conversation last night. Verbal agreement and plane ticket purchased. Wendell Phillips of Lockhart Phillips recently retired, thinning his herd. He said he was looking for a 1050SE for two years, bought it in 2017 with ~4K miles on it, just doesn't ride it enough to keep around, and needed to make room for a brand new GS. I'm pretty excited about this adventure to come. Now, anyone know someone who wants a 2008 with rebuilt pistons, new starting hub, fresh plugs chain and sprocket?

Congrats on the purchase!  I hope you are concocting a great route home.  What parts of the country will you be passing through?

Flying to Reno, getting back to SW Michigan. A few years ago, I rode from San Diego back home and somewhere across the Colorado line I got something in my eye. I think it must have been gasoline or oil cause I couldn't find any physical debris, but it stung and hurt for a good long while. It was probably stupid to press on, but I made it to my destination squinting all the way. So maybe I will retrace my steps and actually enjoy the view instead of only taking half of it in.  :008:

I will probably spend a few days in Colorado, visiting family, then IBA back home so I can feel good about putting an IBA backer on the new whip. (Plus, across the plains... is there any other way to do it?)

Colorado and Utah have some amazing riding. I've been out there twice. If you plan to stop in central IL, let me know!

Yam RD125 DX, Kwak GPZ305, Honda CB400T, 1983 Kwak GT550, Suzuki GSF650 Bandit, Tiger 1050SE, 2019 Tiger Sport .... got there in the end.

I'm guessing something to do with the Iron Butt Award for riding 1000 miles in 1 Day.
The answer is 42
