R & G radiator and cooler guard
on: 23 March, 2021, 02:54:34 PM
Bought one of these to fit to my new Sport and had a go at fitting it today, i now understand why its the cheapest make of guard compared to beowulf (fitted to my Tiger 1050) and others i looked at when i bought it.
1. What a PITFA to fit, the mounts all required a tweek to line them up, not easy when you have a couple of bolts in already.
2. Had to change the top 2 M6 x 30 hex head screws with button heads as you cant physically get an 8mm socket or ring spanner on the head of the bolt .. the effin brackets are bent at about 70 degrees. Luckily I had a couple of button heads the right size.  :172:
Anyway its fitted now but took 3 times as long as it should have ..my advice pay an extra few quid and buy a better quality one  :169:

Ooh yes.. that clip needs clipping back on the the other hose..  :138:

The button heads look so much neater, I'd have replaced then anyway  :152:

The Guard came with 3 M6x20 button heads but could ony use 1 in the lowest position as they were too short, 30mm long needed for top, luckily i had a few security torx button heads  :001:

I went with EvoTech, more money but a really good fit, and didnít really like the way the R&G is one big piece, looks like a skirt.

Still think one of you bright sport owners need to buy the cad info from me and tweak it for the changes I heard were made second or third year made that might have made mine not fit as it.

Still think for the money was best made, anodized and powder coated but shipping to over the pond and VAT make it too expensive.
