Indicators suddenly stopped working - relay??
on: 23 January, 2021, 01:54:36 PM
My indicators suddenly stopped working not far from home , indicator arrows flashed once or twice on the clocks then refused to work.  :187:
Horn, high beam and flash work ok but indicator lever seemed to be not working properly,  tried wd40 but no luck.
Found a used set of left hand controls on ebay and have been changing the whole assy.
Plugged in and switched on the bike but indicators still not working,  nothing on dash either.  :110:
Checked all fuses and found the indicator relay.. is it the relay as i hear nothing from it when i switch on the indicators???
Any ideas??  :440:

This is the relay im talking about..

The one next to the fuse box.
Looked on ebay and can only find a Hella relay in Germany , all the others are a different shape and connections...

Indicator relay is in the nosecone.

You have; starter, cooling fan & ECU relays there(left to right)

Horn is on the same fuse (#4) as indicators so if that works fuse is ok.

Yes I know it's the one in the nose cone because I repaced it when I upgraded to LED indicators.

Might this be a good time to upgrade to LEDs  :490:
(possibly not as you'll soon be sending her off to the knacker's yard)

The nose-cone is a lot easier than the tail section.

Sidewinder's right. I've also had to move that one around when wiring around there.

Be aware that this one is no ordinary relay. It provides the on/off flash pulse to the handlebar indicator switch. Also, it has a special socket on it, which a small plug (3-pin I think, even if only 2 pins are used) pushes directly into. If you want a quick nose-cone off, plug-in a new relay job, best buy the right Triumph one first if you can. Don't know how expensive they are, but cannot be too excessive. See:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-TIGER-1050-TRIPLE-INDICATOR-RELAY-FLASHER-SWITCH-2007-2010/262156543672?hash=item3d09bf66b8:g:q~AAAOxyHltSTtVd
This one will fit also:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2014-Triumph-Tiger-800-XC-Indicator-Relay-2506000-FREE-UK-SHIPPING-114/254177976544?hash=item3b2e3020e0:g:IfEAAOSwDJ9cmga0

Otherwise, it could have failed, but may also be as simple as a plug or wire that has pulled out.

Or if you've the time, buy a cheap indicator relay for any machine, and be prepared to wire up the terminals yourself. Not difficult, but not ideal outdoors this time of year either.

Best of luck.
