Been a bad biking year, just 5,500 social miles, all safe & to the rules. With 3 on the road, they all need some oil chucking round. Only managed one decent ride, a 1,400 mile tour of Scotland. Not been a ride in near 2 weeks now & next week not looking good in the Peaks.

Now I got a cold, but how? I've kept safe, wore a mask if had to go a shop. If a cold virus can get me, I'm lucky not to have the Covid bug.

Same here, May 2008, several years before I got a Tiger. Joined this forum after searching engine servicing & found many related threads that applied to the 1050 motor, I had both the ST955 & ST1050 at the time. Loads of good info on here then & now. Shame a lot of the boys have moved on to other bikes, great some still hang in & contribute. Many might still be here if the TS had been sold over the pond.

Worrying innit? I also have a cold, not the first since all this nonsense started and I have been ultra cautious since my duaghter got it in a really bad way quite early on. My own Sport did 2K miles between its last 2 MOTs  :004:. Changed my fron tyre in Dec '19. If I had still been doing the high commuting miles I would have changed the rear at the same time, decided it could wait a few months. Still sitting in my garage and my rear still has a few months of life left in it  :180:

I think I've done less than 1000 miles on any bike since around November 2019. What with moves, other travel and now this damned virus, bikes are going rusty. Even the car has only done 2k in the last year, and most of that in a couple of long journeys.

I'm starting to wonder if it's not better just to sell the lot and take taxis everywhere! I know it's what some city folk do. But not too seriously - old beliefs in the freedom from control of using independent travel die hard.

As to colds, all sorts of weird and wonderful viruses are floating around especially at this time of year. We all panic about Covid, but I'm convinced there are others we don't understand. I spent one day, Christmas Day, meeting my extended family for about 2 hours - that was outside, on the banks of the Thames. All correct, elbow bumps only. Yet that night I had a terrific sore throat (which usually for me precedes a cold), which lasted into Boxing Day before gradually subsiding.

And yesterday didn't go out all day (apart from the garage), and last night if I opened a window the air that came in was thick with something that made me cough violently. No smell, no obvious pollution, but definitely something on the wind.  :027:  I'm convinced there's stuff (viruses, organisms, whatever) floating around in the air that we know nothing about.

On the TV they've been telling us to open windows to let the virus out, but how did it get in?

My car's done 1,350 miles all year. Cost me around £3/mile. Just give it a wee run to stop it seizing up. Wifey's car done about 2k miles, 'cos that goes shopping.

In a normal year 18.000km is our average on our cars, currently a Volvo XC70 D4. And about the same yearly average on all bikes since my retirement in 2006.
This year only 5000km on the Volvo, lockdown limited long holiday trips.
Traded my 2018 Tiger 1200 XRx on last Januari 24th for a new 2020 Tiger Sport with now 16.000km  :152:
Triumph centerstand/engine guards/heated grips, GIVI PLR6404 side rack with DLM36 panniers, SR6404 top rack with M9B plate, WL901/DLM30/V47N/TRK52B topcases, ST603/602 tanklock tankbags, EVOTECH radiator&oilcooler guards, Pyramid ExtendaFenda/hugger extension, Puig screen&spoiler, Zumo XT on Zumo lockable mount, Osco chainoiler, SWMotech sidestand extension, CNC clutch/brake levers, SCPROJECT SC1-R can, Micks 25mm lowering plates, KOSO Mini3 volt/temp/time & LED blinkers, SHIDO LTX14-BS battery
