Had an R version almost from new

17 Years ago, jeez time flies.  Toured Europe on it, pretty bullet proof, fastish even by todays standards, mine was dynojetted, K&N and full Akro though.  Only thing I can remember was the carb heater circuit could block then it would run a bit crap. The S was the same bike just with the bigger fairing and an electronic speedo rather than cable.

would like an R  and probably got enough pennies to just about afford one but an S (as you say same with a larger fairing isn't as sought after)  can be had for 2k less money
and can look just as trick,
how was the handling? already looking at suspension upgrades (with my extra pennies)

Never touched the suspension, it was OK ish, but then it was new. Heavy old thing, so no sports bike and had a tendency to understeer if you went in a bit quick. At the time was considered the better handling of the muscle bikes and the quickest, I actually saw an indicated 160 once, for about 3 seconds :008:

I just missed out on one of these back when I was changing from a ZX6R, it was a well looked after trick model from a forum member, ninja forum at the time. Someone else beat me to it so I got a Z750R '11 instead.
Still have an itch for the big 'Rex' though.

OH,, help..

If you like to look good, and LOVE TO TINKER. Get it.

Speaking as the owner of a 1979 Honda CB750 Limited.  I've dumped more money into my old Honda, figure the cost per mile is around $10 at least.
AND make sure you have the name of buddy with a truck or towing company that hauls bikes.
