I always strip front and back calipers every year to clean the pistons and copper slip the pads, but now also check the rear slider pins.

Lithium grease on the slider pins attacks the rubbers, causes them to swell, use silicone brake calliper grease.

Yep, coppaslip knackers em too. Ive always used the original Red Rubber grease

Yes coppaslip is mineral based anorl, I use it on pad retainer pins.


I use red rubber grease for fitting inner tubes on me traillie. Works a treat, no pinch punctures.

I did solve the issue with rear brake. After an overhaul they were fine but on checking later, rubbing a tad. Stripped the calliper again, found nowt wrong, so did a thorough clean of the slider pin & shaft the pin goes in, right in the bottom was some thick yellow grease, cleaned that out, greased the pin with calliper grease & all has been fine since. Teach me to skimp on a job eh.
