Cruise Control + Fuel Gauge Stopped Working
« on: 14 October, 2019, 06:09:42 PM »
Just recently been on European Tour on 2016 model, approx. 3000 miles. On setting off fuel gauge stopped reading completely but fuel low level warning light still works. Also cruise control stopped working suddenly. Any suggestions or previous experience?

Thanks for the tips guys. It sort of makes sense if it is related to the clutch switch as I changed the standard supply levers for an alternative just before I left.
Could be that the switch actuation is not correct and hence the problem. I'll check it out and confirm, many thanks

That switch does a lot of other (undocumented) things, as people have discovered to their cost when bypassing it to try to cure starting issues.

I agree with all the previous posts. I had the same issue. New clutch switch = problem solved.
The ECU calculates the fuel level in the tank by taking regular readings from the fuel level sensor. These readings are disregarded if the clutch switch is engaged, thus no fuel level is displayed if the ECU sees the switch as permanently engaged.
The reserve level calculation uses the same fuel level sensor, but a different circuit in the ECU so the reserve light will still work.
Easy test:  can you start the bike without pulling in the clutch ?

A boy on the T800 forum had exactly same problem after changing levers. Many probs are result of fitting non std parts.
