Phone mount wanted.
« on: 29 September, 2019, 09:34:10 PM »
Hello All,

I use a phone in a Ram mount as GPS on a 2018 TS that currently is mounted onto the handlebar. Due to my eyes getting a bit "older" it would be better if mounted above the instruments. Does anyone know of a mount or bar that would fit (say) between the top screen bolts?

TIA  :002:

Dont think anyone has done a bar for between the screen mounts, there is the navi halter bracket ( expensive), or do what a few did, me included, drill a hole in the screen subframe and mount a ram ball:

+1 for drill a hole and keep the dosh in your pocket

Been there for over 30k miles now.

Here's a different angle

If you use a short arm on the ram ball you won't have any vibrations.

That an air horn you got hanging off the bars Sean?
KTM hooter is pathetic, like the OE TS one I suppose. The KTM forums say its not easy on my bike because of canbus errors, even with a relay

I had the same issue with finding a bracket that fits across the windscreen mount posts, to mount by GPS, so after removing the screen to give the inside a good clean, I could see how I could construct something to do the job.
I used angle brackets on each end, bent them to fit over the posts, used a 25mm hole saw to cut a section at the bottom of the angles so it would sit low without interfering with windscreen operation. Used a section of 22mm steel tube and held together with a 6mm section of threaded rod with Nyloc nuts on each end. I spot welded a couple of small welds to prevent any rotation. Sprayed with Matt Black paint and bolted to posts with a couple of 5mm hex bolts and Nyloc nuts. Works a treat.

Great ideas and many thanks. I'll look into the Ram ball idea as that seems simple!

Wolo bad boy. No idea about your canbus but don't even think about it without a relay. I have a bigger fuse on that circuit than the one that powers my heated jacket, gloves and boots all at the same time.

One of the guys says the only way of doing it on my bike is to leave the OE horn connected as well and tap into the wires for the relay trigger, I may give it a go,  as at the moment Im better off shouting C%$%T  :008:
