Why is nothing straight forward?
« on: 11 September, 2019, 12:27:45 PM »
Hello again, I have just fitted a k&n air filter, iridium spark plugs and a new battery to my 2013 Tiger Sport.  I think that everything was fitted back properly but when I first tried to fire her up when she eventually started she sounded lumpy as if only two pots were firing.  She settled down and was ticking over.  After a couple of minutes I switched off and tried to start her up again, very lumpy, did start but then died.  Now when I turn on the ignition the normal cycling up sound doesn't happen thought the consul lights are on.  Nothing happens when I push the starter button.   Any ideas?  Thank you in advance.

Need to go back over everything you have done.

Are stick coils on proper & connected in order, airbox connections, fuel tank connections. Has to be one of the things you've removed. That is assuming it ran ok before.

Check the airbox seals ok with that filter.

I will have to check it all again.  Bugger!   At least I am becoming more familiar with my bike.   :157:

Check battery terminals first and retest before doing anything else.

After that it's sensor plugs on top of airbox or the coil sticks haven't been pressed home fully.

None of those should stop it going through the cycle, was/is the EML on when it started?

& check fuel pump & ignition fuse, cant remember if they are separate without looking(the sound you hear is the fuel pump pressurising/priming). Did you knock the engine cut out switch accidentally & didn't notice(I work part time in a friends bike shop, we've done it & looked like a right pair of pillocks! :034:)

If it's not sorted by the weekend and you want a second pair of hands/eyes, give me a shout. I'm not a mechanic but I've been around bikes for over 40 years and done a fair bit of tinkering.. I'm free Sunday and in Crossgates..
