My old Tiger 800 had an air temp reader but I can't find one on my 1050 Sport. Is there one?

Think of us US owners who have to buy a KTM just to get that feature. It's no big deal, Apple paid them to exclude it so you are prompted to use your $1000 iPhone 4-5-6-7-8-9-X-11 to check ambient!

Easy enough to fix

A bit annoying that its not standard.

It gets crowded next to the GPI, TPMS, USB port, volt meter, ammeter, headlight switch, 3-button remote conversion and compass. Ok, no compass but you get the picture.  :745:

You'd think with such a large display, there would be room for an ambient temperature reading.

Aah, but you needed to embed it in the LCD. The newer stuff gives you options to make a screen, a screen. A big ol' canvas that can be used for all sorts of stuff. Just a few years along and see what we identify? This is why TFT wins.

Talking to the warranty guy at a dealer recently and it seems the the popularity and proliferation of TFT clusters are starting to become an expensive warranty liability for a number of manufacturers. The failure of a single, often inconsequential aspect of the display and some unfathomable starting/running issue often requires the whole unit be swopped out. Triumph are particularly plagued by this judging by the box of failed Street Triple RS units I was shown. Not a problem to the owner while the bikes under warranty but could be a major issue afterwards.

Oh yes, once this stuff starts moving down the food chain could be fun. My KTM has 5 ECU's I believe, they are also having issues with TFT (Bosch).
