Fuel Pump Change and Rough Running
« on: 13 August, 2019, 02:13:43 PM »
Newbie to the group so thanks for letting me join.

In need of some advice; recently had to replace fuel pump on a 2009 Tiger 1050 as I broke the outlet pipe removing the tank whilst fitting new battery leads (DOH!)  I secured a second hand fuel pump and installed without issue.  At the same time I remapped to 20543 (Arrow can without SAI).  All seem to go well, bike started ok and ran through the adaptation etc without issue.  The problem is it now idles well but coughs and splutters when revving/under load.  I reinstalled the original map and it was worse so have reloaded what I believe is the correct map 20543.  Is this a map issue or a fuel pump issue or have I dislodged something else under the tank whilst it was off? Could mixing the tank vent/roll over rubber pipes cause the rough running?

You've already shown it's not the map and you have described an obvious symptom  :169:

Could also be a dirty filter in the replacement pump.

One of those 2 hoses had a white dot on it from the factory which usually rubbed off about the 2nd time it was removed.  It went to the rear fitting as I recall but the FSM (factory service manual) will clarify.

They are different sizes...but can't recall which goes where
Other bikes: 2017 Speed Triple R,  ZXR 400 race bike for track days and Fantic 250 Casa for green lanes

Vent hose (which started life with a white dot) goes to the rear.

Not on the earlier bikes - from memory.
