New owner in Oxford
« on: 15 July, 2019, 03:16:05 PM »
Two months ago I bought a 2007 Tiger 1050 and am very pleased with it. It came with a top-box but no panniers. I want to remove the top-box and buy and fit a set of panniers. I want them to be as big as possible for long-distance touring. What options are there?

If you need the space, then of course there are many options to choose from.

However if you want your bike to win a beauty contest ..................... :164:

Thankyou for all your replies.

I did say I want a pair of panniers that are "as big as possible for long-distance touring", not for my bike "to win a beauty contest". As such I will take Paul2bikes' advice, as Sw Motech Adventure panniers seem to be (a) the biggest and (b) well-appointed for securing additional luggage on top!

I could do with a new tank bag too, as the Tiger 1050 tank is a very different shape from those of my earlier bikes, so none of my old tank bags fits very well. A tank bag that can be expanded would be nice. Any recommendations?

When I got my TS Baglux didn't do a tank cover for this model, they do now, Paullie has one.

I got this one, see link below.
In it's expanded 15L state I can just about fit enough for a night on the ferry in it eg pills, Toilet bag, pills, chuckies, pills, T shirt, pills, sandals, pills. Best bit is it fits the tank & looks ok on the bike, q/r for fill ups. If you look in the current top box rack thread, you can see a pic of my bike with it fitted.
