Some wool tufts and a motorway will suffice for these investigations.

To make things even more complex, I found that my jacket can make a big difference in the noise level. I have a jacket with shoulder pads and one without. The jacket with the pads makes things much quieter even though the jacket is not up against the lid.

Just bought the nicest helmet I've ever had for the track, but i just couldn't keep up.

This getting old crap sucks.     Your head is worth the best, body is worthless without it.

Re: It really is all about the lid: Schuberth E1 purchased

Hi,

I finally bought a Schuberth E1 online, so I can test the peaked helmet theory on my own TS.
Will keep you posted about the progress. Should arrive middle of this week.

All the best,

RM

Interesting discussion. Maybe someone could experiment with winglets for the helmet skirt!

Ok guys what lids are working and what are not

GT air is definitely not working.

Was looking at a neotec any + or - on them

Also we all seem to state what height we are but that's not the size we need to make a true comparison
We should use our height minus our inside leg as this will give a true height sitting on the bike.
So my sitting height is 34" how do you compare ?

Good idea to quote your sitting height to make things more accurate for comparison.
I have a sitting height of 37".

I've got a couple of lids but have been using a Caberg Tourmax flip front lid. It's nice quality but does seem very noisy and I am really hating it at motorway speeds on my 2016 (latest model) TS with standard screen, best on the 3rd highest screen setting but still not great. I'm going to try a MRX X-creen and will also trial my other helmet to see if it's any better.

Getting the wind noise as low as possible is very important to me. I've got some mild hearing loss and unfortunately tinnitus which is now virtually constant and does my head in at times...
I blame it on being a m/bike courier for a few years from age 17 as I really racked up the miles back then... but was also lucky to survive a few riding incidents as a teenage tearaway ha ha  :300:

Good idea! I have 39-40 " (long body short legs!).

This is just my personal opinion, the lid is not the problem,
I don't know of any Tiger owners that have that quiet nirvana no matter what lid or screen or height you happen to be
obviously noise levels are subjective but the Tiger is noisy period and I think it comes round the sides and over the fairing so no screen is gonna make a lot of difference just my opinion
