Aye nowt better'n paraffin (kero). Cut piece plywood shape fit behind sprocket/chain. Fill squirty bottle, spray it on all over, gi it a rub wi wifey's toothbrush. Ha. Wipe it 'til rag clean.  Alluz gives it proper clean shift rain crud.

The chain cleaner Lidl/Aldi were selling works well, missus got some when it was 50P a can a while back. Ok at that price.

DID literally say to lube their chains with 80w90 gear oil - I've been using it for years.

DID are the guys who make 100k chains the width of a sturdy horse that drives a mining machine the size of a warehouse where they pay top dollar for reliability - DID know their chains.

Also use paraffin.

My chain cleaning procedure is literally paraffin on a rag (set of the wifes old pants will do, won't make them any more chewed up and stained  :164:), wipe the chain til it's clean. Then old paintbrush, brush on some gear oil.

Did it once every week or two weeks, or few hundred miles depending on what I'm doing at the time if I'm doing a tour or something. Worked great for years.

Or it was til I bought a scottoiler, now I just clean the chain. The scottoiler lubes it.

Still a couple of Scottoiler Vsystems going cheap in Oxfordshire I believe (surplus stock). I bought one just to have a new one - works well.

F9 is great! I'm surprised by his scientific nature, he has done several tests of bike gear, including goretex that are great entertainment and well thought out experiments. Watching his stuff makes me lament my career choices. I want to play with bikes and get paid for it!
