Swinging arm 2013 onwards
« on: 11 January, 2019, 08:26:51 AM »
Hi all

Has anyone stripped out\cleaned and re-greased the swinging arm bearing\pivot.

Easy to do? Any pitfalls?

Not done that one yet on the TS mate, any reasons for it?  I took the swingarm off my old 2003 955 Tiger when it was 13 years old and 30k miles, bearings were still perfect and greased.

No porblems....just setting myself up for what needs doing and wondering if the Trumpet grease monkey was on holiday when the bike was built. The bike will be 4 years old this so more, potentially, to do.

Dont forget the suspension linkages. All this is every 2 years. Only fit full compliment bearings.

Good to point that out.......I have done the suspenders once already when I fitted the Nitron shock but I will be doing it again.

Had my '08 for 9 yrs and 32.5k,
swingarm bearings were never touched, no play or stiffness,
rear linkages are an easy service so did them
