ok, let`s see if this works, This is a good pic as you can see the difference between the two side plates and yes, you can still get both.

You can't anodise steel. Well, okay you can but all you'll do is put a layer of rust on it which isn't very beneficial. I believe you'll find the gold chain sideplates are electroplated.

What's the split link for? PLEASE DONT fit one to the Tiger chain. Split links only for little bikes and pedal cycles.

I only posted the pic as it was the first one I found that clearly showed the difference between the two link shapes.
