Were they pre-war? First one. Before my time for a bike chain.

Go on, tell me they've been doing um for years.

Aha, yeah Ognibene cushioned sprockets are advertised all over ebay, JT do list them and being pretty much the largest manufacturer of sprockets doubt they would buy them from Ognibene??

FWIW having put 400k miles on "new" triumphs since 1997, ive found afam to be the longest lasting and JT the worst, by far. I wont use them again.

Ayup m8, is that JT chains, sprockets, or both? I've heard JT chains are shoite/don't last. Not heard bad reports on their sprockets. Do JT make their own chains or bought in?

Have not used JT sprockets in many years, got the OEM Triumph kit when needed for my Tiger, although it's only on the second one. First chain and sprocket set lasted 24K miles. In the past, JT has been a cheaper alternative to the Japanese brands like Sunstar and had applications for just about every bike out there. I always had issues with the finish of the silver steel rear sprockets, they corrode easily. Just picked up a cheap used DRZ dualsport that supposedly just had the chain and sprockets replaced. The rear is a steel JT that is already has chalky white corrosion all over it. I would bet they outsource their branded chains, not sure if anyone manufactures their own stuff any more. :027:

Always used anodized did chains, with JT sprockets front and rear 12k miles, sprockets worn, chain kinked. With afam or sprocket specialist, 40k miles 6 times in a row

Ok, so just the JT sprockets the problem. I use them on my traillie, the front one doesn't last long at all, maybe 2-3k miles it does suffer some mud but has a Scottoiler.
