1050 Headlight query
« on: 25 November, 2018, 02:10:27 PM »
So, picked up my new to me 1050. Turned on, I've got the 2 little DDL's coming on with ignition and running, but nothing else, high beam switch and pass bring on the right hand light, nothing on the left. So guessing the bulb is likely done.
What bulbs are people using, heard a few folk say the standards are pretty weak.
Cheers.

Go high end sylvania, think they are  called nightbreakers in your neck of the woods.

H7 and H9.
Might confirm your getting power to the high beam.  Seems odd that the high would be out.

I think he is saying high works but low is out, Indy.

Taffro, You've stepped into one of the biggest topics on this forum. Bulbs are not the problem (unless blown!), it's the reflector that sucks. Upgrading may help but none have reported it as a lasting solution. I fitted the Tiger Sport cluster which means I have two beams now for each of low and high. That's progress in my book. I previously fitted dual H4's (don't think anyone else ever did that as it was fiddly) to achieve the same thing and it was a waste of time in the OEM pod.

Sounds like you need a new H7, I bought these just recently. About the brightest you can get for the T1050.  :028:

Thanks read that wrong.

Night racer, go figure. I was close.  At least I had the company right.

Seems the racer is 110% brighter than stock and there is a Night Breaker 130% brighter than stock but doesn't mention vibration resistance or for motorcycle design.
Funny at the time I bought mine they didn't sell Night anything in the states. The Silver series was it and that's what I used.

Cheers for info fellas. Quick investigation showed the bulb was blown, Trident riding neighbour has an Aladdin's cave of a garage and had a spare, works fine again, but as mentioned, pretty lame, will change for TigerMike's recommendation.
Cheers... :152:

The Breakers are the better ones to go for, the Racers have a slight blue tinge, both supposedly have anti-vibration, my racers lasted about 10k miles. Im back on Std bulbs at the moment but will be fitting Breakers soon
