Don't quote me on this, but I think if the bike has over 7500 miles on it it doesn't need to be compliant. Kalifornia considers any vehicle under 7500 miles to be "new".

 Interesting aside....

If you try to register an out of state vehicle under 7500 miles that is non-compliant, the DMV will flag the VIN in the system, and you can never register it no matter how many miles  :005:

I guess it keeps one from going home & racking up a few thousand miles on the center stand.

Don't take chances! Check with the DMV.

Then check with another DMV  :002:

That's what I've heard. The one I'm looking at only has 4,500 miles on it.

I have found a couple used gauge clusters on ebay that I may just swap over for the registration.   :152:

Picked it up today and rode home about 250 miles. Here's a quick pic, I'm now on the hunt for a short screen as the current one has the worst buffeting I've ever experienced.

I'll snap some better pics tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum.

She's a beauty.

It could be the photo angle but the chain looks right as a drum! The mechanically minded on the forum ie NOT me will tell you they like a slack chain

Congratulations Aphex, looks pristine just like mine was 18 months ago when I got her  :123:
:0461: with gavuk, chain does look a bit tight
Just don't lock her away in your garage , get out there and ride it like you stole it, it's a lovely bike that you won't want to part with once you've got it set up to your liking  :037:
Yam RD125 DX, Kwak GPZ305, Honda CB400T, 1983 Kwak GT550, Suzuki GSF650 Bandit, Tiger 1050SE .... got there in the end.

Thanks for the tip I'll give the chain a once over.

Oh I'm definitely going to ride it, I had 45K on my 990 before I was hit on it. I got pretty lucky with this bike as it only has 4000 miles on it and the previous owner rode it 2000 miles since he bought it in 2013.

I never understood the love for these triples since I borrowed a friend's street triple 675 and it just felt like a slightly meater inline 4 ( felt weaker than my FZ8/Fazer 8).

However this 1050 is just something else entirely. It's not a raw and visceral punch like my 990 SDR but it's so refined and I can only explain it as thrust. Smooth dramafree and unrelenting thrust that continues to increase as you twist the throttle. I love not having to work the clutch as much and pulling away clean from 30mph in 4th gear.

With some suspension work, a high mount Mivv suono, decat, performance air filter and intake mod with a good tune and some low fat bars it's going to be one hell of a sleeper while still being a wonderful two up machine when I put the panniers on and take it up the coast.

I'm very excited to be a part of this forum to learn (ie search before asking ) and share my knowledge.

It's always hard to tell if a new member is on the right page, with their expectations, after first buying a Tiger 1050.
There's no question that you certainly are  :490:
