Remember that the Tiger Sports are fitted with an immobiliser system in the key. So as long as the motor will work with the original T1050 ECU, then all should be fine - apart from getting the right tune set up of course.

as you are doing a big change to the bike would it have to be re-registered on a Q plate - or is that not relevant anymore?  :084:

nah i dont think that'll be needed as its just an engine swap, no frame mods etc

If he doesn't want to finish with plates of spaghetti everywhere, in the form of wiring looms, just change the engine only, keeping everything else from the original setup. The SSSA upgrade will be  :062:

But yes, I can't wait to see this one progress. It's a good upgrade, for an original 07/08 unit  :169:

im hoping i can get the engine to run with the older 1050's loom etc, we'll see at some point, but first im gonna swap the clutch over to the 1050 so i can ride the bike whilst the weather is good then get the engine pulled out and compare connections etc

got home from work today and couldnt resist getting the tools out   :007:
out with the old and in with the new!

think im gonna start a thread for this bike, so i can update it as and when i do work on it
glad to see its peaked a few peoples interest!

Nice one, I take it the swingarm went straight in without issue then?

By chance, did you happen to weigh the two swingarms for comparison?

That's amazing! First time I've seen detail of SSSA fit to a T1050!  :028: I take it the swing-arm mounts were all the same size then, and the sprockets lined up? And what about the shock - I thought that was different on the TS to the T1050 (maybe the upper mount is the same?). Ride height the same?

I take it you fitted the swing-arm? And fitting the motor later?

Anyway, great project. Worthy of a 'How To', I think, if you can provide enough details.

Top job by Dan here and also a great bit of design work by Triumph Engineers if that's as easy a conversion as Dan has made it appear. Be great to have all the work on its own thread.

It's not such a bad idea! Probably at least a 5 Kg weight saving, and the rear caliper will be more accessible ....

My bet would have been 90/10 against that incredible result, without having to move heaven and earth. Seriously impressed  :047:
