Do I need a new map or reset?
« on: 30 July, 2018, 11:42:19 AM »
Hi folks.
I applied the Dave73 tune to a standard Tiger 1050 ABS (2010 model) which made a lot of difference to the running of the bike. Power bands were a lot smoother and I was happy with it.
I have subsequently fitted a new SC Project exhaust which sounds lovely and had it's virgin run this morning on the way to work.

I have noticed that I'm getting quite a bit of popping on deceleration. I don't know if this is backfire or just a characteristic of the exhaust.

Do you think I need a different map applied, resetting the TPS or just leave it alone because it's all normal behaviour?
If I need a new map, please point me to the exact one if you can.

Thanks,
John.

Try a V-twin with Yoshimura exhausts! That's popping ..  :087:  Sorry,  :451: I know.

Hi John,
that's exactly what mine does so must be a characteristic of the exhaust as it didn't do it as much with the Arrow fitted, (if at all!)
personally I love the sound  :123:
IMHO - leave it as is, but its up to you  :027:

I expected to see flames getting thrown out the back end.
I think I will rest the TPS anyway just because I've fitted a new component.

Flames  :005: hmm a TPS reset might help, just thinking I did mine the other way around to you.
Fitted the SC Project first then changed the map from Arrow road to Dave73's V2 so will have done the adaptation cycle etc with the new exhaust already In place.
The only other thing I have done is the airbox mod and fit new OEM air filter! Did you do the air box mod?  :490:

The answer has to be, if it is running fine, then enjoy the riding and the super cool sound effects.

If it is not running so well, then try another tune like 20545 (min 95RON).

I havent done any other mod. Just the new exhaust. I did the map first though so will reset it tonight and try that.
The sound is nice but on the way home last night, the popping was a bit extreme and I could smell that the bike was running rich.
The alternative map might be an option. Thats the beauty of being able to do it yourself.

I always check the richness by wiping my finger inside the exhaust. When cold of course  :169:

I reset adaptions last night and took it to work today. The bike is still popping however, it has reduced by about 50%. I also think it seems more controlled and the sound is lovely.
Think Ill just keep this map for now.
