How fast can a Tiger go?
« on: 10 October, 2015, 12:21:06 AM »
Looking for anyone who got to or as close to 200 mph. How and what did you do to get it up as fast as you did. Straight line no race or record breaking ride. Please. Might have a couple shots at doing it and was wondering if the Tiger was up to it.

Genuine speed, I reckon would be about 150-160ish which will probably be about 170-180 on the clocks.
To get 200 you would need a turbo with a lot of boost in and a heavily modified engine or alternatively heavily modified aero's.
I've done a number of top speed meets and the genuine speed is always well below the speedo reading.

To give you some idea, my measured top speeds for various bikes were
Fazer 1000 120hp 152.4
ZX7R 125hp 158.6
GSXR1000K4 161hp 194.8 (long arm and lowered)
Hayabusa standard 176hp 194.1
Hayabusa with nitrous 225 hp 200.3

200mph = 321 km/h!???  You got to be joking rite!? There's no way a Tiger could go that fast!!  :033:

Absolutely not designed for that in any way... You want a Hayabusa or ZX14R, highly modified for anything like that...

Tiger's top speed is only about 225 to 230km/h (142mph).. Let alone 321km/h!!

That's more speed than I need anyway.   :005:

With no wind and NO drag from wind the top speed of the tiger is 162.1
I managed 156 on a dyno with the speedo corrected.

But on the road I'm guessing 146 or so max. (corrected)

I've pulled 136 but ran out of track.

No way in the world would the Tiger pull 200 with 110Hp at the rear wheel 136 crank just not enough HP.

Just wondering if anyone has jammed more than one atmosphere in one.  Has any hit 150? What happens or why do they stop going faster do they back out on there own or did the bike hit the end of its limit? Was it on the speedo or GPS or gun or what.
Has anyone taken one to the salt flats and tried to see the top end of one? Forget any highway shenanigans.

Aerodynamics would be a big obstacle for the Tiger, followed by power. I'm sure with enough money and fiddling it could do it, but there are much better platforms for such a thing.

Just put "tiger 1050 turbo" into YouTube and have a look.
You'd need to start with something like that to seriously up the top speed!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

The maximum theoretical speed of a Tiger Sport at max power is 153mph and 171mph at the red line.  This is assuming there is no drag at all and in perfect conditions.
Keep the rubber side down.   Mick
