 Would be careful choosing a sealant, if stock rubber seal was good enough.
No one would be having problem, since many have I think it can be a weak link.
Why not add some extra protection.  It's your bike, the choice is yours.

Replace the switches and do the scroll mod as well.
When you're replacing the switches, use a solder sucker to minimise the volume of solder on the pins. If you haven't got one, cut the switch away from the board and then remove the pins one at a time. You'll have the devil's own job trying to heat all 4 pins up at the same time if they're fully loaded with solder.

Thank you very much mate, it looks like the best option for me as my buttons dont work and the clocks are stuck on trip 2 so I dont even know how many KLMS I have done anymore......much appreciated
