help needed
« on: 15 October, 2012, 08:41:49 PM »
i know nowt about the tuning of bikes ....at all ...but local triumph dealer says i should get the latest map installed  a.s.a.p.
thing is he recomends either the 20548 or 20549 for my bike (tor tunes )
currently has the 20157 tune installed
my tiger ....07 plate ABS Model
            ....6.5k miles
....No Mods At All ......idles at 1,100rpm.....burns no oil (yet ) ...
absolute basic except for panniers and accessories fitted along the way...
runs sweet as can be ,no popping ,starts first time and very reliable ....
SHOULD I CHANGE ? ..IF SO WHAT TUNE ?..HELP APPRECIATED ....Is the dealer right in wanting to put the tune for a TOR in a std bike with no mods ...
i have read pages and pages using  search   and now i am at a loss ...

You do not HAVE to update, but it is generally recommended to.  There are changes made to the maps that are not visible or accessible even with TuneEcu or similar programs.

I have a bone stock 2010 that runs great with no issues.  It had the 20548 tune in it when i got it.

I would not recommend a TOR tune

The TOR tune will run ok, gosh, but it will be rich. Most important thing is to run a later tune, but you have a couple of options (nothing is ever simple!).

The stock tune - 20548
Arrow Road      - 20542 (might run slightly smoother and will be a better bet than the TOR tune)
OR
if you have any pinging or are likely to use low-octane fuels then the equivalent Brazil-based tunes will work fine.

If you're not sure, then just use the stock tune.
'08 Tiger Blue (Gone but not forgotten).....replaced with
'08 Guzzi Breva (the lump).
'05 Opal/Tangerine T-100 Bonnie

I loaded the newest stock tune for Richard and it worked so well we never even tried another tune.

I would update to the latest tune do the adaption test it out, take some notes and then try another tune.
Worst case you have to try another or roll back.

Check dikman's tune list in the performance section sticky.
Makes finding tunes very easy.
