a quick spin
« on: 17 July, 2012, 06:43:27 PM »
couple of mates took an EX12 and an 800 road out on sunday went along on my 1050,
really wasn't interested in riding either (800 too wee) and not in a position to change as yet,
well we had a quick stop for a swop and after much mutterings on the virtues of the 800, dislike of the EX12 and some bating I decided it needed to be done  :151:
despite comments to the contrary the 1050 is still (for me) a better bike, I have done tuning mods to mine by the way,
the 12 is a vast bike felt top heavy on the go with a vagueness and slight weave/wallow in the turns
(the rear tyre did look a little squared off tho)
power? yes it's there but felt real lazy like a big V6 not as punchy as my 1050
At 5'7" and 29" leg the low seat position was closer to the ground than my stock height 1050 but the size and weight of the thing  :151:
can't imagine what it would be like with a roll bag full of camping kit and panniers,
SO i am both relieved (cos i rode it and didn't like it) and dissapointed (cos i rode it and didn't like it)
I shall wait for the "1050 Sport" if it happens and the new KTM 1290 ADV
