Can someone please explain the difference the VIN makes in determining your tune? Just curious. Do newer bikes have a lower, or higher, VIN?

My last six digits are: 520898 (2012 model). I would want to chose from the first selection of tunes, right? (Tiger 1050 Up to VIN # 535378 / Keihin EC)

That's what I figured...which makes me wonder why my bike has such a low VIN? It's a 2012.

Does your new (12) Tiger have a two button cluster or the older three button for the trip/computer functions?

When you say 2012 do you mean it was registered in 2012 for the road?
The bike could be old stock and built a while back before it was sold.

Well the title states it's a 2012. Not sure what you mean by built a while back and registered in 2012. That wouldn't make it a 2012... ?

It has the 2 button cluster, John.

Ran a VIN identification -- see attached photo. Shows 2012. Maybe only the Tiger Sport got into the higher VINs?

As long as it isn't old enough to have been loaded with that piston punching tune that Hamlin mentions was phased out in June 2011

Your bike could of been built in 2011 but not sold till 2012 . The vin numbers are for build date and not when they are sold date

VIN indicates it was built in 2012. It was sold in 2013. It's a 2012. It's just odd the VIN is low.

The VIN will indicate the model year but there should be a tag somewhere on the frame that gives the specific build date.

My Tiger is a 2008 model as indicated by the VIN and title but the actual build date was December 2007.

I think the pre Sport Tigers my have been sold through 2013 in other markets which could account for the higher VINs.

Are there any forum members out there with Tigers that fall into the high VIN range? :084:
