It would be expensive, tricky, dangerous (I let you imagine the probability of a dealer locking an ECU by himself) and, as Dik pointed out, potentially illegal.

BS aiming to intimidate educated customers.

:033: its quite probable, with type approval being looked into by the powers that be, i wouldnt be supprised.

if you look at other manufacturers, producing bikes with traction control etc, according to some publications changing the tyres changes the way the traction control works.

it looks like the manufacturers are policing themselves before legislation take over.

Could actually increase the value, and desirability, of older, simpler bikes.   :007:
'08 Tiger Blue (Gone but not forgotten).....replaced with
'08 Guzzi Breva (the lump).

The anti-tamper feature might only be a slip on plastic cap over the bike's comms lead! Also keeps water out...

IIRC some new phones have flash counters on them. Meaning there is a limit to how many times one can flash a ROM, if at all. The smart chaps have figured out a way around it. An ECU might have the same type of counter on it?

Wouldn't be wise, considering the lifespan of a motorbike and the unpredictability of the number of occurences.
