Battery
« on: 22 August, 2011, 09:07:39 PM »
Looks like my standard 3 year old battery is on its last legs (bless)
Read a few different posts on hear re upgrading to a 14 from a 12
However some have posted up the battery part numbers with some of the digits missing off the end
So will this do and is the price good ?

Cheers in advance

Just throwing good money after bad  :110: buy the same make as OEM.
My experience is you will just end up buying another sooner if you go cheap, unless your selling the bike go with the original make.

If I recall correctly from my research ... the YTZ series are gel based, are smaller and have more capacity than the YTX series which are liquid based.  So a YTZ14 will fit, whereas the YTX14 would not.  You can get the YTX factory filled, or dealer filled.

I do not do any winter riding (no kidding!) so I went with a straight YTX12 replacement from 'total Battery' that cost me $64.  The YTZ were about 50% more expensive.  I needed the battery immediately and the YTZ were special order.

My dealer wanted $137 for he Yuasa YTX, and over $200 for the YTZ14.

Try your local Honda dealer . I paid ?65.00 for a YTZ14.(Yuasa)
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy!

I just upgraded to a "blemished" YTZ14S I got from  a friend at Yuasa for "research" purposes. The bike cranks like a new machine. Support Yuasa, they are American made in Pennsylvania, and they attend all the major rallies helping riders with bad batteries with complimentary batteries to get them home. FYI the big boss man has a 1050 Tiger. I don't know how they address the upgrade with Triumph,or as a vendor they just mind their business and keep shipping what the customer asks for.

Call me crazy............but is not the Yuasa what Triumph uses factory????  Maybe I just thought I heard that somewhere.  I really do think the battery on my 2007 is the original and still cranking!  I think the previous owner like me has always had it on a tender when not riding.
