20164 to 20166 - mileage lost
« on: 20 July, 2011, 03:17:53 AM »
I have a '07 Tiger that had a Two Bros slip-on muffler and map 20164 (= TOR with cat+SAI).  I used to get over 40mpg, typically ~43mpg

I then removed the following: cat, SAI, and snorkel.  I loaded 20166 and reset the TPS.  Bike runs great, noticable power gain and less on/off snatching.  However my mileage is now down to less than 35mpg.   :110:

Have any of you experienced such a large loss in mileage?

I am consider using the latest Arrow race map without SAI = # 20546.

Actually the bike was pretty good after removing cat, SAI, and snorkle with 20164 other than it threw an error for SAI circuit being open.  I measured the resistance of the SAI solenoid at 20ohms.  I could put 20164 back in and a resistor in place of the SAI solenoid   :084:

Good to know.  Last night I loaded in the E25 without SAI (20410) just for a try.  Next I'll try the Arrow Race tune without SAI (20546) depending on how I like the 20410.

Test ride this morning and all feels pretty good.  The E25 map feels like it has a bit less HP but it drives very smooth and almost no snatch as I roll on the throttle coming out of a corner.  After only 15 miles I am seeing the MPG come back to over 40.  The only thing I forgot was calibrate the speedo (-6%) so I'm back to having the speed reading too high.   :125:

When I took off I noticed the fuel gauge had no indictation.  I recalled some one else stated they lost fuel gauge reading when changing maps.  However, after a few minutes of riding I got one bar on the gauge and then more with time, tank was near full.  I guess there's a delay in changing fuel level so it doesn't go back an forth as the gas moves around.

I don't use the ECU display to read mileage, it's not accurate and has a mind of its own. The only way to calculate accurate mileage is to do it manually, distance travelled against fuel used. Anything else is a guesstimate.
