Who can run my tune. Who can not.
« on: 18 June, 2011, 02:56:10 PM »
Looking for some help.
My Setup at time of tuning was.
Air Box mod, right side opened. Dog bone left in.
Bmc filter.
Catalytic converter removed.
Akrapovic exhaust NO Baffles.
High octane gas. 93 US, No ethanol

Please reply is you have tried my tune. Looking for your setup and results.
IF it worked completely, please post up what setup differences between your bike and mine.
(expecting air filters and exhausts) since my exhaust is not available, unless you want to bodge one together.
IF you tried my tune and it worked but are using another tune. Please note what tune and why.
(tuneboy is adding map changes on the fly) having alternate tunes that work with this setup is great.

The second reason for this post is one member found my tune to work except in the low rpm range.
I am looking for a tune that I may be able to copy the lower rpm range into my tune.

I also suggest members who have found a tune to work for there setup start a post for that tune.
Please put complete bike mod's along with what tunes worked for your bike and what did not.

I will add all tune posts to one master list, just ask for it to be included.

How many crazy, lucky folks running my tune.   Oh, what kind of mpg you getting.
I can get 45mpg running sane settings, last week averaged 32mpg. Having way to much fun.
I love this bike.  :490:

No Cat
Low end issues, Below 5k rpm.
High end fine.  Above 5k
Beowulf exhaust - no baffle,

Self Tor'ed can.       Simon1050
Just a straight through 50mm perf pipe & muffler packing,
Pipercross air filter,
S3 snorkels,
no cat or sai

Airbox mod.  Snorkel left in.     Rememo
Pipercross air filter.
SAI functional.
CAT removed.
Arrow road exhaust.

Twobrothers, exhaust.           ZAWA

( I updated the tune, with one that should no longer have issues with tps reset. If you load tune and have a issue let me know) if you do have issue check link below.)

I will try and do the reset, also bring down the red line.
It was moved up while tuning, trying to figure out if the was a limit in 6th gear. (There is) rev limiter kicks in before normal red line in 6th gear.

Now is a great time to suggest a donation to the  forum.  Free tuning software with a custom tune,
total cost will be your usb cable.   :031:         Tuneboy software, and dyno time  :005:

Just post up how it goes.    :490:

NOTE.  This thread the info needed to reset the TPS, in this original version.

The attached tune has been modified to correct the idle settings.  Please let me know if you have issues with this tune.    ( Thanks Gooseman_65 )

Hi Indy,
well I am one of the lucky guys.

cat removed, snorkel out, Beowulf exhaust - no baffle, K&N filter.
have less power in low range, from 5000 rpm your tune squeezes pure joy of my engine though.
I use 95 Eurosuper petrol.
It might be the fault of my bike that I do not have better performance in low revs due to my still not resolved problems with very poor mileage(my Tiger devours between 8,5 to 10,5 litres of petrol per 100km). So it is possible that when I finally fix it - your tune will turn out to be fine and my bike guilty of not being able to use it's full potential.
Anyway, the smoothest, most linear delivery of power form all the tunes I've tried. Absolutely insane(in a good-Jesus-why-I-am-smiling-so-much way) in higher revs.
You spoiled me with your tune. Others, even though they maybe slightly more responsive in lower range just don't cut it any more. I just miss the smoothness, and the feeling that I have the same amount of power no matter what gear of rmps.

what about you guys? what do you think about Indy's tune?

Hi Indy,

I run your tune with a smile on my face all the time  :001:

Important was to modify it back to the factory idle settings to be able to reset the TPS
I have also lowered the rev limit to 9700rpm

My setup:

Arrow Race exhaust
No Cat
Pipercross air filter
Modified airbox, snorkel out and both sides open

I use 95 and sometimes 98 octane (euro) petrol

Getting about 35-45mpg depending on how hard I am on the trottle

Tried a lot of tunes and for long distance touring an alternative for me might be the 20378 OEM tune for better milage
.... but then again I ride the bike hard and have it for fun not for getting good milage so your tune stays

Again.... thanks for sharing it to us Indy and big respect for Power-Tripps work!

Been running it for awhile now. Here are the two set ups that worked fine:

Your tune with stock idle settings(only way I could get the TPS to reset)
BMC air filter
Snorkel removed
Cat. Conv. in place
Supertrapp exhaust

Also works with my new Arrow race exhaust.

Great to hear rhector.

Have you found any other tunes that work well, not bad etc with your (our) setup.

Also attaching the non sai to this post.
Could not add both in one post. Go figure.

Tried the old TOR and old Arrow tunes.  Yours is faster and smoother.  I haven't tried the latest OEM tunes, but I don't think I have a need to experiment any more.  The only thing I've been told, is that I let out black smoke when I get on it really hard.  If I had to guess, I'd say I'm running on the rich side.

I agree it is rich.

Wayne's method is simple but time consuming.

Takes base run on dyno, then the tweaking starts, thin, fat adjusts timing while comparing HP, Torque and the gas analyzer. (one of his secrets, he spent more on the analyzer than some for there complete dyno) = fast sampling.

He said this engine is much is happiest running rich, the up side is we should never burn up a engine running to lean.

 @ wooc$sh

K&N is more restrective filter than both Pipercross or BMC air filters from what I have read in different forums

Could that be why you have problems below 5k?

my problems are related to the engine, rather not the filter itself. still have problems with burning to much petrol.

if someone would like I could attach Indy's tune with changed idle settings - many people had problems with resetting tps.

Ok, I am a complete noobie to this tuning, but after reading about Indy's tune i just had to order a cable & try it.
So this afternoon I downloaded the tune & installed it BUT didn't get a green light for the TPS reset? I had adjusted speed % and fan temp.

Took it out for a ride round the area where I live & noticed an impressive seat of the pants improvement, smoothness & power,  :046:  although it did stall once which is unusual.

Tomorrow I will load the tune without speed & temp adjustments & see if I can then do the tps reset. Wooc$sh, I'd be keen to try your adjusted "Indy tune" if thats what sorts the TPS issue, Could stalling the bike be associated to the tps not being set properly, or maybe just rider error?

I have a self Tor'ed can, just a straight through 50mm perf pipe & muffler packing,
Pipercross air filter,
S3 snorkels,
no cat or sai

Overall first impression is that it will work for me  :490:  :046:
One day I will die, Trouble is, I won't be able to press restart and play the game again!!!!!
