955i v 1050 Tiger. Possible New owner.
« on: 24 April, 2010, 09:14:39 PM »
Hi all, just joined the forum. Got a 955i Tiger, but am looking at possibly changing for a 1050.

Opinions please, should i swap or will I regret it? Got a test ride booked next week on a 1050. Had the 955i  for 5 years with no problems,
just fancy a change....................

:401: Welcome Kaplan. I'm sure you wouldn't regret buying a Tiger1050 but it isn't simply an upgraded 955 rather than a completely different bike - more road/touring orientated than the 955 with a more sporty performance. What it loses is some of the off-road features of the 955 which, if you don't go off-road, you won't miss. You will read numerous comments on here which prove the new Tiger is a fantastic all-round bike.

Kap... do what you can to keep both.  Don't know enough about your situation but if you like your current bike, that won't change when getting a new one.  You make like the new one more or less - but if you know you like your current try to keep it.  I speak after not doing that and still kicking myself.

If your wife won't let you....

If you don't have enough room...

If you need to trade it in...

If it is in need of big repair...

So many reasons to not keep it.

New Tiger will take over your riding time - but there will be days when you want familiar and some old pride in your ride.

Enjoy the test ride!
