12,000 mile service
« on: 02 April, 2010, 12:48:35 AM »
had the 12000 mile service  this week was quoted 980 US. dollars omg!!!  only charged 787 though said  the valves were in spec  so saved a little.   asked for a updated tune  they loaded a slightly richer tune  for stock air box and exhaust,  just drove it 50 miles   face hurts from the prolong smile lol.  this bike only gets better with age i love that freakin bike. Last year did 3600 miles  from CT usa   through canada  all of nova scotia  some days 11hours straight on all kinds of roads., and all kinds of weather besides needing new tires  on the way back  perfect . again i luv that freakin bike!!!

"loaded a slightly richer tune  for stock air box and exhaust"  :187:. There is no such thing, the next one up is the TOR tune, designed for the TOR exhaust. It will run ok with a stock bike, but fuel economy will suffer. Presumably, that is what they installed?

had some surging  at certain spots in the throttle, and some pinging at full throttle, asked the dealer to check it and see if a newer tune would fix it.  they told me  they loaded a updated tune which is slightly richer, my bike is a 07  so maybe a newr stock tune???   no more surge  and  perfect throttle response   and the pinging is gone too   :152:

:0461: (of course  :001:). I am still a bit confused, however, because as far as I'm aware (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), the only change made to the basic tune was due to the fuel gauge doing silly things on the early bikes. Nothing has been said anywhere about any changes to the actual mapping. I suspect they've installed the TOR tune in your bike.

Which doesn't really matter as long as you're happy with it  :028:.
