From the title I thought you were already developing new tunes before you even had the cable, Nige.

- Aprilia Futura '01. Every performance/suspension/brake mod you can think of. Parting out at the moment.

- Honda VFR1200F. Replaced the Tiger.

I know I like to be prepared and informed up front, but that would be going a bit too far  :002:

I ordered my kit yesterday, so hopefully should be in the club in a few weeks.  :028:

How long does it normally take for an order to be received in the UK?

Ordered mine a few days ago and THEN remembered the group buy :157:

Does any one know if the triumph cable works on any other makes?

The group buy finished weeks ago so you can't use that, unless I suppose you have spoken to them in Oz and agreed the same price? Mine took about 3 weeks to arrive after the deal finished...don't know if it was slow because they didn't have enough stock, or because they are slow!

No idea about the cable, but my mate who is a senior car technician told me that the ECU connector is pretty standard these days across makes...I'm not sure if that's only cars, or bikes as well. Even if the cable fits another bike, you'll have to buy an ECU serial key from tuneboy for each different bike...the key is encrypted from the ECU serial number, so I would think it's very unlikely/almost impossible that you could figure out what it should be, unless you know how the algorithm that generates the keys works, and that info will not be available to anyone outside tuneboy!

Thanks - Plenty of time to read the manual and posts then!

Am I right in thinking that a key is only needed to "upload" tunes? I was thinking that I could offer a diagnostic service to members of the local bike club, hence the question about the cable.

According to the Tuneboy info. the key is only needed to run TuneEdit, the diagnostic software doesn't need it. If the cable is the same for all bikes (a reasonable assumption, given that the OBCII connector is supposedly standard issue on vehicles now), then if you install the software for a particular bike you should  be able to run diagnostics for different bikes.

I think.

I've been back to the tuneboy website and the "Buy now" page seems to indicate that Aprillia and Bennelli may need different adapters or cables, so I've sort of answered my own question. But I'm now confused about the software!
When I downloaded it I don't remember there being an option for different versions dependant on manufacturer. Having said that I've ended up with a 955 dash, so may be there was an option during the install process. - Memory ain't what it used to be!  :157:
Unfortunately the download and support pages seem to be offline, so can't go back and check.
Any one else having problems accessing these pages?

The support and download page do seem to be off line - I just tried to get into them and couldn't.

I think if you run TuneEdit and load the tune for the particular bike the proper dash will come up in TuneBoy.  Take a look at the TuneBoy.PDF instructions for getting the ECU serial number around page 11.  You shouldn't need a key, it is only necessary for loading a new tune.

cheers -  :031:

I have to admit I'm making a few assumptions here, as I haven't tried any other software for different bikes - didn't need to  :015:.

So I could be wrong.
