Title: POST THE COOLEST PIC OF YOUR BIKE
Post by: millsy1 on 24 September, 2016, 01:43:34 AM
I stole this topic from a car forum i go on but i think it is a good idea. Many travel to scenic destinations, others go to bike shows and sometimes a pic of a tiger is just cool by itself. The pic i chose is of my son and a great friend of mine who recently paseed away. I have no brothers or sisters so my friend actually earned his UNCLE title to my son. He always took time to teach my son on anything mechanical or contruction related.

Did that once on a Fazer. Most embarrassing (very little damage though). After that I stopped riding in sub zero when there has been any kind of precipitation. Have to admit I was too shaken (oh and late for work) to actually take a pic though.

I like this one of mine.  On the Golden Eagle ferry returning to IL after a few days of camping and strafing corners in MO.  KTM 990SM-T and another Tiger behind me.

Haven't got many of mine yet.
This one of mine and the other half's bike relaxing in the South of France in the 30C+ temps is probably the opposite of cool.  :002:

Cheeky fecka  : :192:

Can't remember exactly when that was but sometime around '86-'88 when we had heavy snow in the Peak District. I bought the '79 DT175mx in '85 for 160, sold it for 100 in '99 after it got stolen/recovered.

Yeah I guess I should of had her move her foot, that was the day the Tiger was delivered to my house, brand spanking new, I think it had 4 or 6 miles on the odometer. That was a great day.

On my 3 Sisters trip, we made a detour through a construction site to see the Frio River up close. Good thing the tiger is set up for sand  :164:
We made another detour to take a picture of an interesting road sign. Does this mean anything to you guys?

Great pic. Nice looking  bike. I've not done the Millau Bridge but it looks great. Mates did it a few years back from Portsmouth to the south coast via Le Mans for a long weekend!

What screen and dry sack set up are you running?

Ride safe
Title: Re: POST THE COOLEST PIC OF YOUR BIKE
Post by: cicsy on 08 October, 2016, 04:27:14 PM
It's a triumph touring screen and I used an Oxford aqua roll bag (30 ltr) which was just about adequate to take a weeks worth of gear. I thought the bridge was impressive until I got to over the border and seen the roads in the Pyrenees and the Pico's. For anybody reading this I just decided I'd spent long enough dreaming of it so just went!
Virtually no planning just caught the Euro tunnel and rode to Grenoble. That was all motorway and is a drag but after that it's all good. My trip seen me take the route de napoleon to grasse then take in the gorges de verdon on route to Avignon for the night. I did the Millau bit as you can see then down into Spain passing through Andorra on the way. I then did the famous n260 and kept heading west to the Pico's. All of it , roads, scenery, hostels people and food are absolutely epic and have to be experienced to be appreciated.

Traded my trusty KLR in on this beauty in August as I seemed to be doing much more sport touring than off-roading and I'm wondering why I waited so long to switch.  Amazing motorcycle for sure.

I've been busy exploring the lower mainland of British Columbia as well as jaunts down into Washington, Oregon and northern California.  This shot was taken about 10 km from my place in Maple Ridge.  ‎10,781 ft (3,286 m) Mt. Baker in Washington looming in the background.  Scenery is pretty good around here.   :002:

I've had a few biking trips around BC while visiting family in Vancouver. Borrowed a Yamaha cruiser from bro-in-law's buddy a couple of times, hired the only bike available (H-D tourer) another time, some good runs to Hope and beyond, canyon roads, trips over to the Island, Sunshine Coast (?) and plenty more. Great scenery, some great roads once you get off the highways, and had a close encounter with a bear. Not something you see every day in Scotland  :001:

I didn't take the 'before' picture. Getting those wheels 'super clean' and polished again, did take some effort.

Some use fancy chemicals and a water blaster. I do it the old fashioned way and have the associated cuts and bruises to prove it :012:

So I thought it might be worth a photo  :028:

The bike doesn't look that clean and shiny now I'm afraid. I'm glad they don't salt the roads here at least, the usual winters muck washes off with a little elbow grease and Zep Industrial Strength Orange Degreaser.

Salt water based cancer is a little less curable..

Here they mix it with molasses. Supposedly makes it last longer, more sticky and slippery as  :172: Weekly commute is about 900 miles so smothered the bike with ACF50 a few weeks ago and won't touch it again until Spring (except for lights and mirrors). That stuff is wonderful, one session with a hosepipe and it will be all clean and shiny.

Just got this about a month ago. Need to get a heavier suspension put on it as I am a big guy. Really sounds nice. I am wanting to put risers on it. I've bought them already but am concerned about all of the cables especially clutch being long enough. Any advice would be appreciated.

Riding up from Fusch side of the Grossglochner Halpenstrasse in early August 2016 in glorious sunshine after 3 attempts of riding through  dense mist & fog  the day & year before......  :152:

We got about 6 to 12 inches of snow here in CT, did u get a chance to go riding in the snow and ice? I think your bike will be fine but i would worry about putting your feet down at stops, u should get some spikes for your boots and see if that would help. Hope your test rides are safe, GL.

I have a Uly also. I love the fact that both bikes have their own way of putting a smile on my face. If I had to choose though, the Tiger would be a win win in my book.

It's called a living room.  That's where the bikes are supposed to be parked.

Gave the Tiger a wash in the last of the days light as it's been 41c these past few days, and mother nature put on a fine show. The pic doesn't do it justice, but a couple of neighbors were out taking photos too. Then to top it off, once the sun was down that massive cloud bank started its own light show with internal lightning.

Nice pic Nods. Nearly gave you a hoi yesterday because we had a big looping ride out planned for today. Was going to be BLOR, Lithgow,Oberon, Taralga, Marulan, Moss Vale, Jamberoo but when the mercury started heading north of 42C we bottled and cut it short with an early lunch in Tarana then back to Sydney.

Na that's looking North, not West. And if there was a mushroom cloud over Perth, well we wouldn't see it, but might eventually realise Perth was gone after a few weeks 😂

You virtually rode past my house. If you'd stopped by, for a cold one, you would have seen why I don't yet own a 2017 Tiger Sport :019:

The wife found my reserve bike fund, which was largely made up of $100 per week, in case my pistons turned out to be 'American self-crackers.'

$40,000 worth of concreting is the reason I don't have a 2017 Tiger Sport :232:

Ah but, just think, the concrete will last longer .......  :033:

And the Tiger will keep that much cleaner getting to the road ....

This just gets worse. Someone came around with a bucket full of cash (not concrete) and took the Tiger away  :019:

120 Metres of concrete drive, plus widening/extending around the house.

I'm still in denial at the moment and keep going out to check the Tiger's actually gone. I dreamt someone stole her the other night and went to the garage to find.......  :114:

I still think I am buying a 2017 Tiger and trading in the old one, that no longer exists  :033:

I guess I should quit the forum for a while until I am suitably qualified to post again  :019:

I'll miss you guys, but someone do please PM me as soon as the next oil or battery thread come up, those are always good fun  :008:

I hear Vespas are popular in your neck of the woods. Or, if you're still smitten with Triumph and are borderline insane, you could always search out a classic Triumph Tigress.

Hey, the Tigress!    :020:  They should bring it back .... screen, panniers, even a spare wheel!

You're not telling us the whole story YD. Who, or what, is underneath all that concrete?   :007:    Or is this an Ark for the coming Great Flood?

And what on earth are you going to do now?
