Who is "they" that recommended the 12 series?

Seems as though all on this forum, from experience, recommend the 14 series.  I know I do.

"Which way you going?" they asked.
After some thought, I replied, "Doesn't matter, as long as I'm going."

The OEM battery for the 2007--2012 Tiger1050 is a Yuasa YTX12-BS.  Most riders on this forum recommend replacing with a battery that has more Cold Cranking Amps.  The Yuasa YTZ14S is the more popular one recommended.  Some have or are using a Lithium/Iron battery, and at least a couple are using a Gel battery.  Your numbers with the letter B immediately after the letter Y sounds to me like someone is recommending you use the OEM battery for the EFI Triumph Bonnevilles...since I don't have one I can't remember that number--the Bonnevilles prior to the EFI models used the same OEM battery as the OEM battery in the Triumph Tiger1050.  This battery works very well in my '03 Bonneville; however, it is NOT up to the task for the high compression Tiger1050 motor--I use a Yuasa YTZ14S in my Tiger.

I recommend you purchase a battery tender (smart charger) device and use it when not riding, and expect to replace the battery you just purchased with a Yuasa YTZ14S in a couple of years or sooner.

The research wasn't here..

NO one I know of would suggest a 12 series, 14 minimum I put a 18 series in mine.

Hope it serves you well, make sure you get a smart battery tender.

I've had one 12 series walmart battery,it lasted a bit over 2 yrs,one ytz 14s that lasted the same and the one that came with it was a 12 series that lasted just under 2 years. I have a lithium iron phosphate right now......I don't recommend them :110: . To be fair to the one ytz14s I had it was an eBay special from a guy that had them on the shelf for quite awhile.

Why is the Tiger so crap with batteries?  My Trident was sold at 11 with the original battery, my GSX1400 still has the original battery at 10 and I sold my Yam 600 last year at 11 with the original battery.  Seems that cutting down the size of the battery to same weight/space is not such a goo idea.
Keep the rubber side down.   Mick

Oh... great. Another battery thread.

It's not so well known, that your brand of engine oil affects your battery's ability to hold charge, as does your choice of tyres  :008:

My GEL battery is almost 7 years old. I can leave the parking lights on all night and she still starts in the morning  :010:
